The Catenians are set to host the final of their National Public Speaking Competition in Manchester on Sunday, welcoming outstanding Catholic Sixth Formers from across the country to showcase their skills in a highly anticipated event.

The competition brings together the best young speakers from Catholic schools, offering a platform to hone their oratory skills and compete at a national level.

This year's final features 15 exceptional candidates who have advanced through a rigorous regional selection process. The National Coordinator, in their first year in the role, expressed great excitement, noting the immense talent on display. "Having attended some of the regional competitions, I can assure you that the quality of these finalists is simply outstanding. You are in for a treat this afternoon," they stated.

The event will be adjudicated by a distinguished panel, including Karen Carter, Bishop John Arnold, and James Power, editor of Catena Magazine. The proceedings will be overseen by the master of ceremonies, Doctor Mike Brennan.

The competition has seen significant growth this year, with a particularly notable achievement from Province 6 in the West Midlands, which had a record 22 schools competing. Additionally, a new initiative of holding mixed-age competitions in some regions bodes well for the future development of young speakers.
