Billy Bragg
Billy Bragg will host 'Days Like These', a special benefit concert for Amos Trust's Gaza appeal at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on Saturday 20 September.
As well as Billy himself, the event brings together an extraordinary lineup of music, poetry and spoken word, with performances from Jamie Webster (solo), Antony Szmierek, Reverend & The Makers (acoustic set) and Big Special.
Others taking part include actor and activist Khalid Abdalla, Palestinian journalist and human rights activist Yara Eid, writer, director and academic Ahmed Masoud, actor and theatre director Samuel West, and co-founder of Amos partner, We Are Not Numbers, Ahmed Alnaouq, with more names to be announced.
Taking place at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on Saturday 20 September (doors at 6pm), the event will support Amos' vital work in providing essential medical care, food and aid, therapeutic trauma support for women and children and support for young writers documenting the unfolding atrocities in Palestine.
Ticket prices range from £30-£40, with doors opening at 6pm on the night. Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster and via Billy Bragg's official channels.
Billy Bragg says: "The shocking images of starving families that are coming out of Gaza call on us to take action to help alleviate their plight. That these unarmed civilians are being targeted by the IDF while seeking aid makes the matter all the more urgent.
By coming together in solidarity with the people of Palestine, we aim to raise funds for the crucial work that Amos Trust is doing to help end the ongoing genocide in Gaza."
The proceeds will go to Amos Trust's Gaza Appeal, www.amostrust.org/gaza-appeal
supporting vital work to:
- provide emergency medical care and food aid;
- deliver therapeutic trauma support for women and children;
- support young Palestinian writers documenting lived experiences.
This event continues Amos Trust's 40-year legacy of using art, storytelling and activism to stand in solidarity with marginalised communities.
"Peace, bread, work and freedom is the best we can achieve and wearing badges is not enough in days like these." - Billy Bragg - from the song, 'Days Like These'
