Urgent appeal for children's nutrition project
A children's nutrition project run by the St Paul's Missionary Community in northeast Kenya is in urgent need of funds.
For the last few years, the UK-based New Ways charity, has organised an Advent Ball to raise £50,000 to run the first six months of the nursery programme which feeds 2,500 children each day of the year. Since the area has suffered a severe drought, for many children, the meals they get at school will often be their only source of nutrition. But this year, because of changes in legislation affecting many of the ball's traditional supporters, New Ways was unable to assure a successful event - so the ball could not take place.
New Ways is run entirely by volunteers. The parish of Our Lady of Peace in Todonyang is twinned with Holy Apostles parish, Pimlico in London.
