Kenya: Malaria emergency appeal

Turkana, in northwest Kenya is facing a malaria emergency.
Unpredictable, increased rainfall, caused by climate change has led to a massive increase in mosquitos carrying the deadly parasite, leading to repeated outbreaks and dramatic increases in cases across the community.
Solastica Wamalwa, a nurse working with the Missionary Community of St Paul the Apostle (MCSPA) said the situation is especially dire for children, the elderly, and those already ill, with clinics now seeing over 80 new malaria cases every day.
May to August this year alone saw case numbers quadruple and with most families living in grass-thatched homes they have little protection against mosquitoes.
New Ways, a charity which support the MCSPA, is running a project which provides life-saving nets to protect children and vulnerable communities throughout Turkana. Please consider donating £5 to give the gift of a treated malaria prevention net. Thank you!
