Westminster: Ellen Teague receives Recognition of Service Award

Ellen Teague, well known for her work with Independent Catholic News, The Tablet and many other journals and organisations, has been given the Recognition of Service Award from the Diocese of Westminster.
The Award, a medal and a certificate, were presented by Bishop James Curry on behalf of Archbishop Moth on Thursday 22 October.
Bishop Curry explained that this is offered to acknowledge Ellen's involvement and contribution to the parish of St Joseph's Wealdstone and the wider Catholic community for more than four decades.
It states: 'The Diocese recognises her involvement and contribution in the work of peace, justice and humanitarian progress. She has dedicated her life to uplifting vulnerable communities across both the United Kingdom and internationally. Her contribution stretches across the entire landscape of international development education and faith based media in the UK. Her lifetime of quiet, fierce and unceasing labour has left an immeasurable footprint on our world.
'At Diocesan level this has included being instrumental, with her husband Gerry Teague, in setting up the North London Justice and Peace Network, their parish Justice and Peace Group and coordinating the folk and children's Mass in their parish. With Bishop John Arnold, Ellen established the first Diocesan Environmental group and has for years played a role in supporting liturgy for the Westminster HCPT pilgrimage to Lourdes.
'At national and international level, Ellen has worked for CAFOD and the Columban Faith & Justice network and volunteered in Nigeria with the Volunteer Missionary Movement. As a journalist, Ellen has ensured that issues of poverty, war & peace and care of creation have featured in The Tablet, Independent Catholic News, the Columban Vocation for Justice, Redemptorist Publications and the International Messenger of St Anthony. She has served for many years, in a variety of ways, the work Pax Christi, Catholic Peoples' Weeks, Christians Aware and the National Justice and Peace Network.'
