Catholics in Fundraising has assured the Holy Father of its closeness in prayer following the announcement that Pope Leo XIV is to undergo surgery to remove a nodule from his lung.

The organisation's trustees have pledged their prayers for the Holy Father, his medical team and all those caring for him during this period.

The announcement comes only weeks after the Holy See highlighted the work of Catholics in Fundraising and the Catholic Generosity Report, which explores how Catholics can more closely align their charitable giving, investment decisions and stewardship of wealth with their faith.

John Green, Chairman of Catholics in Fundraising, said: "On behalf of Catholics in Fundraising, I wish to assure the Holy Father of our prayers and spiritual closeness as he prepares for surgery. We pray that the Lord will grant him strength, peace and a swift recovery.

We were deeply encouraged by the recent recognition given to the Catholic Generosity Report and by the wider conversation it has inspired about faithful stewardship, generosity and the responsible use of resources in service of the Gospel.

Catholics in Fundraising noted that the mission of the Church depends not only upon financial support but upon prayer, solidarity and a shared commitment to the common good.

On Tuesday launches it's 'The Good Steward Series' online to promote better ethical application of wealth in giving, investing and estate planning. For more information email john@catholicsinfundraising.com
