Image, an imprint of Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Group, in partnership with Libreria Editrice Vaticana (LEV), will publish the English edition of The Private Diary of Pope Francis by Víctor Manuel Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith on 24 November 2026 in North America and in all formats. The Private Diary of Pope Francis is an extraordinary glimpse into the mind of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, known to the world as Pope Francis, through the personal diary he kept before and during his years in the Vatican, expressing his hopes and fears, struggles and prayers.

The Private Diary of Pope Francis will become simultaneously available worldwide in multiple languages. Penguin Random House will publish the book in Spanish, English and Portuguese, Libreria Editrice Vaticana in Italian and Editions Albin Michel in French.

The Private Diary of Pope Francis shares key moments and insights from the diary that Bergoglio kept before and during his papacy from Dec. 20, 1992, to Aug. 18, 2024.

"Through his own words, readers will gain a deeper understanding of Pope Francis during some of the most important periods of his spiritual life," says Campbell Wharton, SVP and Publisher of Penguin Random House Christian. "We are honoured to bring these personal writings to readers in the United States, offering a unique window into Pope Francis's spiritual journey."
