Message from Stella Maris for Sea Sunday

This weekend, parishes across the country will celebrate Sea Sunday, we hope you will join us!

It is a special opportunity to remember and pray for seafarers and fishers, who spend months away from their families, often working in difficult, dangerous and lonely conditions.

This year, Sea Sunday comes at a time of growing concern for many of those who work at sea. Recent events in and around the Strait of Hormuz have shown how quickly seafarers can find themselves caught up in conflict and instability far beyond their control. Many are carrying the goods we rely on while facing risks most of us will never experience.

At Stella Maris, our chaplains are there for seafarers and fishers when they need support most.

As we prepare for Sea Sunday, please take a moment to watch Renars' story: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aniI0pvxCrU

Renars is a seafarer who became seriously ill while far from home. During his time in hospital, Stella Maris chaplains visited him, supported him, and helped ensure he was not left to face that frightening experience alone.

Stories like Renars' show why Sea Sunday matters. Through your prayers and generosity, Stella Maris chaplains can continue to offer practical, pastoral and spiritual support to seafarers, fishers and their families.

This weekend, we hope you will celebrate Sea Sunday with us by remembering all those who work at sea, especially those who are sick, isolated, far from home, or travelling through areas of conflict and instability.

Thank you for standing alongside the people of the sea.

With every blessing - All at Stella Maris.
