Hosted by Sarasin & Partners and organised by Catholics in Fundraising, the launch of The Catholic Generosity Report brought together more than 50 leaders, philanthropists and professionals from across the Catholic charitable, financial and community sectors to explore the future of Catholic giving in the UK.

The landmark study offers a comprehensive analysis of Catholic charitable activity, wealth and giving in the United Kingdom, emphasising the scale, impact and potential of Catholic generosity. Prepared by the AAW Group, the report is the first to present an evidence-based picture of the UK's Catholic charitable and philanthropic landscape. It draws on regulator data, sector benchmarking and extensive research into wealth, giving behaviour and investment trends, revealing both the significant contribution already made by the Catholic community and the magnitude of opportunities for future growth.

Among its findings, the report estimates that the UK's 5.3 million Catholics are associated with around £1.2 trillion in household wealth and contribute an estimated £2.9 billion annually to charitable giving. It also identifies more than 840 Catholic charities across the UK with a combined annual income approaching £1.9 billion and assets exceeding £6 billion, making the sector a significant contributors to charitable activity in the UK.

The research highlights the potential to deepen this impact through legacy giving, major philanthropy, stronger collaboration and faith-consistent investment. It explores how Catholic Social Teaching offers a distinctive vision of stewardship, inspiring individuals and institutions to see wealth not only as a resource to be managed, but as an opportunity to serve others and contribute to the common good.

The evening brought together representatives from Catholic charities, dioceses, religious orders, foundations, philanthropic organisations, professional advisory firms and investment specialists. Through thoughtful discussion and shared reflection, attendees explored how the Catholic community can build on its strong foundations and create new pathways for generosity, impact and social transformation.

A clear message emerged throughout the event: greater collaboration will be essential to unlocking the full potential of Catholic generosity. By bringing together charitable expertise, philanthropic vision and financial insight, the Catholic community has an opportunity to transform ambition into action and build a stronger culture of stewardship, giving and collective impact across the UK.

The report provides a platform for a new era of stewardship, in which generosity is strengthened, partnerships are deepened, and the collective contribution of the Catholic community can flourish for generations to come.
