Preaching The Living Word: Lessons from Oscar Romero

Dr Todd Walatka
Dr Todd Walatka, Professor of Theology at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana), is one of the leading experts on the life and teaching of St Oscar Romero. He is coming to the UK at the invitation of the Archbishop Romero Trust from March 9-14, with engagements in Canterbury, Leeds, Durham (where he is to give the annual Romero Lecture), St Alban's and London.
In preparation for his new book, 'The Preaching of Oscar Romero' (published by Orbis Books, February, 2026), Walatka has studied in depth the homilies Romero delivered (and broadcast) during the three years he was Archbishop of San Salvador prior to his martyrdom in 1980.
For the Catholic Association of Preachers, he will lead a workshop in the Amigo Hall, St George's Cathedral, Southwark SE1 6HR on Monday, March 9 2026 from 4-7pm.
This will be a unique opportunity to engage with the witness of St Oscar Romero in a new age of turmoil and of political repression in so many countries. To book a place (£20) email admin@catholicassociationofpreachers.org.uk
