London: Musicians and actors perform for Farm Street lunch guests

Guests at Farm Street Jesuit Centre homeless lunch in Mayfair were in for a treat yesterday when they were entertained with a concert by singer Patricia Hammond and instrumentalist Matt Redman and seasonal readings by Gabrielle Lister and Kenneth Michaels from CaAPA - the Catholic Association of Performing Arts. Kenneth read a very heartwarming piece from Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol.

Set up in 2020 at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the lunch service, run by volunteers at Farm Street takes place twice a week in the Arrupe Hall. Nearby five-star hotels, restaurants and clubs including the Connaught, Claridges and Annabel's, donate the meals - there's always a veggie option.
Downstairs at the Jesuit Centre, volunteers also run the Cana Cafe - open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 11 am and 2.30pm for lunch and snacks, The also offers training for homeless or unemployed people people to help them back into work. See: www.farmstreet.org.uk/cana-cafe
