Podcast Special Guest: Sister Marie-Kolbe Zamora

Sister Marie-Kolbe Zamora
The title of Episode 72 of the All Kinds of Catholic podcast is: 'I am a daughter of the Most High God.' The words are taken from this week's guest, Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity, Sr Marie-Kolbe Zamora. This statement was part of her thoughtful and heartfelt response to a question about where women find themselves in the Church and in the world.
Jenny Hayward-Jones, who works for CAFOD, joined the episode too. Podcast host Theresa Alessandro asked both women for their thoughts on the value of conversation in shaping our faith. Sr Marie described conversation as 'sacred space' because 'words are in themselves sacred.' Jenny shared stories from CAFOD's work with partners overseas. In describing how she gathers those stories by speaking to the people who are there, and how much of those testimonies involve people working together to problem-solve, Jenny noted that, 'it takes us back to conversation.'
The women turned to talking about how it feels to be getting used to Pope Leo, as people who deeply appreciated Pope Francis. As part of her role at the Synod of Bishops, Sister Marie worked with Cardinal Prevost - who later became Pope Leo. She was able to bring glimpses of the man himself to this part of the conversation, reporting that, "He has the same sensibility for encounter and relationship that Pope Francis had."
Elsewhere on the All Kinds of Catholic podcast, a recent popular episode was recorded at Padley Martyrs' Chapel, near Sheffield - and also featured two guests. Theresa was joined by Gerard and Anne-Marie to talk about the Catholic recusant history of the chapel and the spirituality of what Anne-Marie described as 'this thin place.'
In Episode 71, listeners can hear from a Catholic woman who has lived in different countries, adapting to being a Catholic in each of them. As part of that conversation, Phyllis speaks movingly about how the armed struggle back home in Cameroon is affecting her friends and family and, in some cases, Catholic priests.
Find the podcast on all the usual platforms, on Youtube and even on Alexa. By listening, you will stay you in touch with Theresa's plans for an in-person event next year when listeners and some previous guests will be able to gather together for conversation and prayer.

About the podcast
The All Kinds of Catholic podcast is created and hosted by Theresa Alessandro. In each episode, Theresa is in conversation with a different Catholic guest exploring how they live their faith in the world today. Guests will often be people who are not in the public eye. Taken together, their stories illustrate the image Pope Francis uses in Evangelii Gaudium, of a 'chaotic…genuine experience of fraternity, a caravan of solidarity, a sacred pilgrimage' experienced by Catholic people 'stepping into this floodtide' of life.
