Ushaw to host Catholic Association of Preachers Conference

Durham Cathedral
Ushaw in Durham, with its historic house, chapels and gardens, is the setting for this year's Catholic Association of Preachers Conference, which takes place from 18 - 21 September.
Speakers will include the Archbishop of Southwark, Most Rev John Wilson and Lewis Ayres, Professor of Catholic and Historical Theology at Durham University. There will be workshops led by experts in homiletics and communication and information on resources.
While previous conferences have been held in Rome and Valladolid, this year, the organisers decided to hold the event closer to home, to enable more participants to attend - and avoid flying.
Fr Dominic Robinson SJ said that having the conference in England also offers more ecumenical possibilities. On one day there will be a visit to Durham Cathedral for Evensong.
Fr Dominic said: "The aim of the conference is to bring priests and deacons together to discuss and share their experience. Our congregations are so diverse, ongoing formation in preaching is always helpful."
"Liturgy and preaching is the place where we can really have an impact on people's faith.. So much has changed since the pandemic - one of the great challenges is listening, to have time to listen. These few days are an opportunity to stop, reflect and learn how we communicate the word of God in these changing times."
The cost of the conference is £290. For more details, please contact: admin@catholicassociationofpreachers.org.uk
