Wintershall cancels Passion Play, but will present on-line film
For the first time, Wintershall Theatre will not be performing the Passion of Jesus live in Trafalgar Square, London on Good Friday, the 10th of April or in Guildford on the Saturday 11th of April, because of the coronavirus.
But the company has devised a plan so as not to disappoint their audiences. They have made a documentary film with rehearsal clips, interviews, stills and mobile phone videos from all the One Good Friday locations, that they will stream on their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/Wintershallplay on Good Friday at 12noon and again at 3pm.
This of course is prerecorded but gives you an idea of the work they have all been doing to take this story into our streets. They will then follow it up with a repeat showing of last year's performance.
Wintershall has performed the Passion of Jesus in Trafalgar Square, with a cast of hundreds of professional and amateur actors, and animals, to an audience of more than 20,000 people, every year since 2010. And they promise to be back!
They say: "The Passion of 2021 will be even bigger and better. Please pray for us as we pray for you. God bless you all, keep safe, keep home, keep praying."
