London: Prayers for peace ahead of protest against Trump visit
Source: Christian CND
Christians of all denominations will be gathering at St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square on Tuesday 3 December, from 2.30 - 3.30pm, to pray for peace ahead of the national demonstration against NATO and this week's visit of US President Donald Trump to the UK. The prayer service will take place in the Dick Sheppard Chapel at St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Christian CND said in a statement: "NATO is a military alliance which includes the nuclear-armed United States, United Kingdom and France. The rhetoric of Donald Trump, with threats to use nuclear weapons and wipe countries off the map, poses a serious threat to global security.
"Our prayers will not only focus on the need for NATO Member States to stop upgrading their nuclear weapons and disarm, but also for nuclear-armed states outside of NATO to disarm. We will also be praying for our own General Election, which is just weeks away.
After praying we will join the CND demonstration gathering in Trafalgar Square at 4pm before marching to Buckingham Palace, where NATO leaders are gathering for a reception."
