Holy Land: Last appeal from school and village facing demolition
Tomorrow, June 1st, ignoring appeals from around the world, the Israeli military has been authorised by the High Court to send in the bulldozers to demolish the school and entire village at Al Khan al Ahmar.
The village is set in a valley between Jerusalem and Jericho, and home to several thousand Bedouin. Like most Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, they live under Israeli civilian and military rule. The valley is part of what Israel calls Area C of the West Bank, and settlers want it to be annexed to Israel. In the 1990s, Israel confiscated the land and designated it for the expansion of the nearby settlement of Kfar Adumim. This is the final chance to save the education of this community.
Children and teachers at Jahalin School write: "Our school is facing demolition! We are asking British citizens to help by urging their MPs to demand immediate action by the UK Government."
