Holy Land: Last-ditch effort to save school threatened with demolition

ICN has received an urgent appeal for help to save a school on the West Bank supported by the Comboni Sisters, which is being threatened with demolition by the Israeli Authorities.

Next Wednesday, April 25, the Israeli High Court will hear the final appeal of the Palestinian Bedouin community of Al Khan al Ahmar. If the appeal is rejected, the school will be demolished, followed by the demolition of the rest of the village.

Campaigners have appealed to ICN readers to write to their elected representatives asking them to intervene.

For readers in the UK - there is now an Early Day Motion (EDM) 1169, which has already been signed by 15 MPs. For more information on how to write to your MP or elected representative, see: https://khanelahmar-11-17.good.do/SaveSchool/SaveSchool/

Al Khan al Ahmar is a valley between Jerusalem and Jericho, and home to several thousand Bedouin. Like most Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, they live under Israeli civilian and military rule. The valley is part of what Israel calls Area C of the West Bank, and settlers want it to be annexed to Israel. In the 1990s, Israel confiscated the land and designated it for the expansion of the nearby settlement of Kfar Adumim. This is the final chance to save the education of this community.
