Lady Bird wins at Golden Globe awards

Lady Bird, directed by Greta Gerwig won Best Picture (Comedy or Musical) and Best Actress for Saoirse Ronan, at last night's Golden Globe awards in Hollywood.

Set in a Catholic high school in Sacramento, California, in 2002-03 - similar to the school Gerwig attended - the movie tells the coming-of-age story of a young girl and her turbulent relationship with her mother.

Lady Bird goes on general release in the UK on 16th February 2018.

The young Irish-American actress Saoirse Ronan won great critical acclaim for her lead role in the 2015 film Brooklyn.
