Booking now: Brightlights Youth Festival in Staffordshire

There are just two weeks to go to the Brightlights youth festival in Staffordshire. The event is open to anyone between the ages of 16 - 25 years and takes place from June 17th - 19th. Over the past 20 years it has grown from being a diocesan festival to serving young people from across England and further afield. This year the Festival is taking place in the village of Alton - home to the Kenelm Youth Trust and its two residential retreat centres, the stunning Pugin designed Alton Castle and the nearby newly renovated Soli.

Sandra Satchell of Kenelm Youth Trust said : "We invite friends and family, youth leaders, teachers up to thirtyish, young adults, group leaders, those who are planning to go to World Youth Day in Poland as well as those who would like to have been going but can't for one reason or another, to come along to Brightlights and experience a taste of WYD at home. The festival is particularly welcoming for young people no longer practising and who would benefit from time away in a safe, fun and youthful setting. Brightlights will be an exciting and wonderful weekend to celebrate faith in a festival atmosphere and to have a weekend in a spectacular and beautiful place to relax, hear great speakers, and experience His presence afresh, with lots of bite sized workshops and amazing theatre to watch."

Anyone in financial hardship and needing a bursary is invited to contact Karen Goodley on 01538703224. The organisers are still open to musicians and others who want to get involved and there is also a dedicated Brightlights phone number for assistance with any queries : 0300 075 0115.

The organisers added: "Given the gift that Pope Francis has bestowed on us with the Jubilee Year of Mercy, it's natural for the theme of the weekend to be Mercy. Input from speakers, workshops and activities will allow festival goers the opportunity to learn more and delve deeper into the topic.

Be In The Light... Walk In The Light... Share The Light "
