Catholic chaplain to Parliament urges everyone to vote in General Election
In this video Canon Pat Browne, Roman Catholic Chaplain to Parliament explains why it's so important to vote in the General Election this Thursday.
"Pope Francis warns us that people living in poverty today are often overlooked. We are approaching a general election. We must make sure we do not overlook them….
"…I feel very strongly that every one of us should vote in this election…. I think of the suffragettes...I think of Nelson Mandela...These people paid with their lives, or most of their lives, trying to get this priviledge. I think it's an insult to them if we don't use the vote that's given to us so freely."
"…We can make things changed. We can say to whoever is elected that we want the poor to be looked after. We want the vulnerable not to be forgotten. So let's all get out there on June 8th and make it happen."
