Matthew Pinto - UK speaking tour on 'Where Catholicism Is Headed'

From November 9-13, Matthew Pinto, American Catholic founder and president of Ascension Press and New York Times best-selling author, will be delivering a series of presentations around the UK, titled: 'Where Catholicism Is Headed: Seven Trends that Will Affect Your Parish, Ministry, and Personal Faith.' In his presentation, Matthew will examine key ways the Church has developed and changed over the past 50 years, specifically in the Western developed nations, and will speculate about what the Church will experience over the next two decades.

"Because of the nature of our work, my team and I have had unique access to people and events, which has allowed us see and monitor over time what we describe as trends," said Pinto. "Some of these trends may be global in nature, but many trends have a degree of impact at the local level. There are also trends that don't manifest at the global level but are certainly present within a particular country or region." The goal of Pinto's speaking tour is to share his findings about trends in the Church--drawn from twenty-five years in apostolic ministry along with recent qualitative and quantitative research--to help the laity and Church leaders confidently determine where to direct their attention and resources.

As to what the future holds, Pinto says: "We are people of hope. There are many wonderful things happening in the Church, particularly with the youth. But, it is important for us to be aware of both the hopeful and the more disquieting trends that have potential to shape the future of the Church. It is only by being aware of these forces that we can respond effectively."

Matthew Pinto is the founder and president of Ascension Press and the author or co-author of a variety of works. Matthew's books have sold almost two million copies, and his most popular works include Did Adam and Eve Have Belly Buttons?; Did Jesus Have a Last Name?; Freedom; A Guide to the Passion, which is a New York Times bestseller; and the Amazing Grace series. He is co-founder of several other Catholic initiatives in the United States, including the Theology of the Body Institute, Envoy Magazine, and CatholicExchange.com. Most recently, Matthew was invited to speak at the World Meeting of Families 2015 in Philadelphia. His presentations in England and Scotland this November will challenge his audiences to consider their personal experiences of Catholicism in light of a broader Catholic context.
