New All Kinds of Catholic online gathering features conversation with Ruth Gledhill

This week's All Kinds of Catholic podcast episode is a special one. It was recorded live at our pod community's first online gathering, with guest Ruth Gledhill who is Assistant Editor at The Tablet.
In the wide-ranging conversation, Ruth explains why she waited until her Anglican clergyman father had died before making her journey into the Catholic Church. She describes 'being welcomed with open arms into this family that was more than the magazine, more than the Church… a big, human family.' She feels comfortable now to have a rosary on her laptop at work. Listen in to hear how journalism is, for Ruth, a particular kind of service, a way to 'help people...navigate the world.'
Regular pod listeners had a chance to send questions in advance and to ask questions at the gathering too. Regarding people who inspire Ruth today, she mentioned two women who are colleagues at The Tablet, who have made her reflect on poverty and on humility.
Podcast host, Theresa Alessandro encouraged the gathering of listeners and previous guests to write a comment on the pod's Substack website about how they are finding these conversations. 'It's important to get out of our own heads and the digital world we are at risk of retreating into,' Theresa said. 'Let's get to know each other better by sharing our thoughts.'
An in-person gathering of the podcast community is planned for the Spring. However, in feedback, many of those attending expressed a desire for further online gatherings too: 'Watching/listening to a live conversation was even better than the edited audio version. I loved Ruth's honesty and humility…there were some random bits of humour along the way that … really helped bring the conversation alive for me.'
Catch up this week so that you are ready for next week's conversation from Paul at the Catholic Police Guild with voices from the National Police Requiem Mass at Westminster Cathedral.

The All Kinds of Catholic podcast is created and hosted by Theresa Alessandro, a director of All Kinds of Catholic CIC. In each episode, Theresa is in conversation with a different Catholic guest exploring how they live their faith in the world today. Guests will often be people who are not in the public eye. Taken together, their stories illustrate the image Pope Francis uses in Evangelii Gaudium, of a 'chaotic…genuine experience of fraternity, a caravan of solidarity, a sacred pilgrimage' experienced by Catholic people 'stepping into this floodtide' of life.
Theresa convenes the Catholic Podcaster Network which meets regularly online. Get in touch if you work in this area and want to be connected. She would be happy to chat further about this podcast and podcasting.
