CIF welcomes Pope Leo November prayer intention

Catholics in Fundraising (CIF) today welcomed Pope Leo XIV's November prayer intention, 'For the proper use of wealth,' and is encouraging Catholics to take time this month to pause, pray and reflect on their relationship with money, possessions and the resources entrusted to them.
In his new Video Message 'Pray with the Pope' - November 2026: For the proper use of wealth, released today, the Holy Father focuses attention on wealth as something to be placed at the service of others rather than simply accumulated.
His prayer asks that money, time, and talents should become instruments of fraternity and that economic, family and community decisions should flow from a recognition that what we have is ultimately gift.
John Green, Chairman of Catholics in Fundraising CIO, said: "The Holy Father's prayer intention offers us an opportunity to stop and ask some very personal questions. What is my relationship with wealth? What has been entrusted to me? How do the choices I make about giving, saving, investing and spending reflect my faith? And could I use what I have more intentionally in the service of others?"
The message is particularly timely following the publication of The Catholic Generosity Report. The report argues that Catholic Social Teaching understands wealth through the lens of stewardship, with giving and investing forming part of the same moral responsibility. In September, Catholics in Fundraising CIO presented the report to Pope Leo XIV.
Trustee Matt Parkes continued: "Before asking what we should do with our wealth, perhaps the first step is simply to make space for prayer and reflection. Pope Leo's intention gives us that opportunity. We hope Catholics will take a few minutes during November to pray with the Holy Father and consider what the proper use of wealth might mean in their own lives."
For those wishing to continue that reflection, Catholics in Fundraising is inviting people to join the next session of The Good Steward series, its free online programme exploring philanthropy, investment and estate planning through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching.
The next session, Investment & Wealth Management, takes place on 9 December 2026, with sessions offered from 8am to 9am and 6pm to 7pm. The speakers are Tom Fitzgerald O'Connor and Fr Keith McMillan SJ. Places are free and registration is here: www.ticketsource.com/catholics-in-fundraising/t-rzajjag
