Pope Leo's doctors give him the all clear

Source: Vatican Media

Today, 21 October, Pope Leo's doctors reported that the tumor they removed from his lung in an operation at the Gemelli Hospital on 13 October, was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized.

Dr Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora issued a statement this evening, noting that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that "no further treatment is necessary."

"The final histopathology and molecular testing reports on the tissue removed during the Holy Father's surgery were issued today. The results confirmed that the tumour was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localised. A subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that no further treatment is necessary," reads the full statement.
