Benedictine monk Fr John Seddon OSB continues his seven part series exploring the beauty, meaning and mystery of the Mass, based on the teachings of Bishop Robert Barron.

Remaining talks take place on Saturdays from 10.30am to 12.20pm:

26 September: Responding to God
31 October: Preparing for Sacrifice
21 November: The Real Presence Creates Communion
19 December: Eucharist: Sacred Meal, Sacrifice, Real Presence

The Laurel and the Lantern

On Friday 18 September, from 7.30pm to 9pm, Dom Paulinus Greenwood OSB, Dr Jo Russell and Sheila Longman present a reflective journey through Britain's Poets Laureate, from Wordsworth and Tennyson to Betjeman, Ted Hughes, Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armitage.

Tickets cost £12, or £10 each for groups of three, until 4 September, and £15 thereafter.

The Man Who Lit the Movies

On Saturday 17 October, from 10.30am to 12 noon, retired Hewlett Packard Chief Technologist Evan Venn will reveal the remarkable story of RR Beard, whose innovations helped shape early cinema and film lighting.

Tickets cost £10 until 30 September and £12 thereafter.

All events take place in the Assisi Room at St Augustine's Abbey, Sample Oak Lane, Chilworth, Guildford GU4 8QR. Free parking is available and advance booking is essential.
