What do you value? On opening your mind and heart to the future

In times of quiet reflection, how do you imagine your future? Is there a gap between the values that you hold, the life that you feel called to, and the daily realities of your career and intellectual life?
Perhaps now might be a good time to return to formal study, to invest your time in what truly matters, to deepen your knowledge and wisdom so as to help transform the lives of others.
Next week, at the Margaret Beaufort Institute (MBIT), we will be holding an online "Open Afternoon" (Tuesday 30 June, 3-4pm). This short event will outline some of the postgraduate and research degrees that you might like to study with us, all available as part-time distance-learning programmes.
One of these Masters programmes offers a unique opportunity to engage in depth with the richness of the Christian mystical and spiritual traditions of the East and West.
Another programme, invites you to a nuanced critical reflection on the interplay between religion, philosophy and the secular world (MA Christian Theology and the Contemporary World).
A third MA programme, encourages those of you who are already engaged in a chaplaincy role, or drawn to that vocation, to deepen your professional qualifications (MA Chaplaincy & Pastoral Care).
The Open Afternoon will also provide an opportunity to discuss doctoral-level study in a variety of theological, spiritual, ethical and philosophical areas (MPhil, PhD, DProf) including a professional doctorate, aimed at those seeking to deepen critical reflection on their own practice.
I will facilitate the session, and I am delighted to be joined by one of our current Professional Doctorate students, Jane Crone, who will discuss her experience of studying with us at MBIT. There will also be opportunities for those of you joining online to ask your own questions.
Please sign-up to this free "Open Afternoon" on Eventbrite to learn more about our postgraduate and research degrees. I will also tell you more about the Margaret Beaufort Institute bursaries that some applicants may be eligible to apply for (including the new Mary Ward, and Pope Francis bursaries), which could potentially help towards part-payment of your tuition fees.
This will be the last "Open Afternoon" of this academic year, so please do join us if you wish to know more - I look forward to seeing many of you next week.
Finally, I wish to say a huge "thank you" to all of you who attended or studied or planned or promoted any of our rich variety of courses, talks or events this academic year. Thank you, your support is precious. Please join us again next academic year.
