Urge your MP: not this bill, not this way, not now

House of Commons

Care Not Killing write: Next Wednesday, MPs and Peers will return to Westminster for a new 'session' following the State Opening of Parliament. MPs interested in bringing forward new 'Private Member's Bills' will then have just over a week to enter a ballot from which 20 names will be drawn. Kim Leadbeater came out on top last time and her allies are clear that they hope to resurrect her 'assisted dying' bill. There has even been talk of packing a Commons committee to avoid amendments and using the 'Parliament Acts' to bypass the Lords.
Please urge your MP not to bring forward a new 'assisted dying' Private Member's Bill, and not to support tactics aimed at bypassing Parliamentary scrutiny.
Direct contact will make the strongest impression: please call or email your MP's office ASAP to book a meeting or a surgery appointment, or to arrange a phone call (and if you are told these are not possible, leave a polite message with the member of staff you speak with).
Do please let us know what views and intentions your MP shares with you when you meet or speak with them, by emailing us at info@carenotkilling.org.uk Thank you.
