Jesuit Missions appoint new director

Paul Chitnis
After nearly 14 years of dedicated service directing the work of Jesuit Missions for the British Province, Paul Chitnis has decided it is time to step down. He has guided JM through significant development in its mission at home and abroad. We are immensely grateful to Paul for his long years of service in this role, both the times in the office, connecting with our works in Britain and the visits to our partners around the world, often in challenging environments.
A warm welcome to Jonathan Heard as the new Director of Jesuit Missions from being Deputy Director of International Programmes at Stella Maris in their UK international development programme; supporting overseas branches, enhancing their capacity in fundraising, marketing, governance and in training of chaplains and volunteers for the mission supporting seafarers, fishers, and their families in the UK and around the world. We think his experience, commitment, and global perspective make him ideally placed to lead the organisation into its next chapter
Jonathan will take over from Paul in the second week of May 2026.
