Many churches are starting to officially institute the 'Feast of Creation in Christ' in their liturgical calendars, preparing for their first-ever celebrations this year. A key highlight is that the new Feast was added to the Revised Common Lectionary that many Protestant churches use. It is a major ecumenical milestone.

The World Council of Churches will convene a webinar later today (March 19), to share the latest updates and next steps of the ecumenical process. This will be the main ecumenical event this year in preparation for the Feast celebrations next September, so we warmly encourage you to join the dialogue despite the short notice and invite relevant people in your networks.

New Mass for Creation Day

For Catholics, Creation Day continues to be a 'World Day of Prayer for Creation' (as instituted by Pope Francis in 2015). The significant milestone, is that the Vatican released a new 'Creation Mass', which enabled widespread liturgical celebrations of Creation Day last year. Ten episcopal conferences instituted 'Creation Day general instructions' for their parishes to celebrate this special day annually with the new Mass, beginning last September.

To start preparing the Creation Day celebrations next September, a resource is now available with some ideas to support parishes and communities to use the new Mass formulary (with more materials to be added in the coming months to the website See: www.FeastOfCreation.com
