Catholic Union talk: Always be prepared to give the shirt off your back

John Studzinski CBE
John Studzinski, author, philanthropist and thought leader addressed members and supporters of the Catholic Union at a pub talk last night. Chaired by Catherine Pepinster, the event was extremely well attended with attendees having the opportunity to buy signed copies of John's book, A Talent for Giving.
John Studzinski CBE said: "Last night's pub talk was an opportunity to discuss the creativity and passion in philanthropy and how to use one's unique talents to contribute to what you believe in. Ultimately, we need to help create a more generous society that benefits everyone. The Catholic Union's meeting was vibrant and there was much energy in the room to help deliver the common good".
John focused his speech on the Common Good and its multiplier effect. He spoke about the inherent importance of dignity which no one should be deprived of and urged attendees, particularly younger people, to find the cause or organisation that they were interested in and to give their time and involvement.
Catherine Pepinster said: "Last night's packed room was testament to the fact that we are eager to learn more about philanthropy. John was incredibly generous with his time and it enabled us to have a very rich and stimulating discussion about the concept of entrepreneurism and philanthropy".
The Catholic Union has held a series of pub talks, a very informative way to hear from politicians and policy makers about various issues in a relaxed setting. Recent talks have featured Catherine McKinnell MP, Sir Iain Duncan-Smith MP, Jon Cruddas, Ann Widdecombe, Alex Macqueen, Lord Glasman, Andrew Hawkins, Stephen Pound, Andy Keen-Downs, Kate Nightingale, Sojan Joseph, Margaret and Barry Mizen and John Studzinski. The Catholic Union is grateful to the Charlotte Marshall Trust for its sponsorship of this series of pub talks.
