Catherine McKinnell MP said: "Being an MP gives you the opportunity to speak out for people and places that would otherwise go unheard. This is particularly important in international development where there are so many parts of the world in need of support, and where people in this country can make a difference. Charing CAFOD's APPG has given me the chance to see first-hand the brilliant work that the Church and its partners is doing in places like Kenya and Sudan. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my experiences in this Catholic Union talk and hopefully encouraging more people to get involved in international development."

Catholic Union, Deputy Director, James Somerville-Meikle, commented: "We're delighted that Catherine has agreed to join us for this talk. The Church's work on international development manages to connect with people from all backgrounds, whether they are Catholic or not. In her time in Parliament, Catherine has been a brilliant campaigner for some of the most marginalised communities in the world. I know this work has been ably supported by our friends and colleagues at CAFOD, and I'm delighted that their Director, Christine Allen, will also be joining us for the talk. It should be a wonderful event."

This event is sponsored by the Universe Catholic Weekly.
