Bethlehem University writes: 'Today, as the region enters yet another moment of deep uncertainty and escalation, Bethlehem University continues its mission of educating and forming young leaders for Palestine, grounded in faith, dignity, and hope.
'Out of care for student safety, classes for our master's programs that were scheduled on campus have moved online, and Nursing practicum sessions in Jerusalem and the West Bank have been paused for today. Classes for Monday will also be given online.
'As we continue our journey through Lent and the holy season of Ramadan, we hold fast to prayer, mercy, and hope, trusting that God is near to all who suffer.
'In today's Lenten Gospel, Jesus calls us to "love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44), a demanding path, but the only one that breaks the cycle of fear and revenge. And as Pope Leo's Lenten retreat comes to an end, Bishop Erik Varden reminds us that Christian hope is not naïve optimism; it is a steady choice for what is real, trusting that God is at work even in the wounds of the world.
'Please keep our students, faculty, and staff in your prayers, and thank you for standing with Bethlehem University as we teach, serve, and persevere.'
