Westminster Cathedral was packed on Saturday evening for a concert of Polish Christmas Carols, sung by three combined choirs, conducted by Jurek Pockert: the Ave Verum Choir, Schola Cantorum London Polish Choir and Choir of John Paul II. The organ setting was provided by Cathedral organist Alexander Robson.
The 'Fiołki' choir of the Polish Mazury Organisation, conducted by Jadzia Słomka, with the musical support of Maryla Kolendo, Rysia Kolendo and Ela Was.
The event was organized by Janusz Sikora-Sikorski, for the Relief Society of Poles Trust and the Polish Catholic Mission in England and Wales. He told ICN: "On the Feast of St Nicholas we gave everyone in a capacity Westminster Cathedral the wonderful gift of Polish carols which will surely resonate throughout Christmas."
After the concert there was a collection for homeless charity The Passage.
Anna Martin who attended the concert told ICN: "Our Polish community is quite spread out over London, so it was wonderful for us all to be gathered together in the Cathedral - and wonderful to hear the carols that we love so much.
I really hope we can have another concert like this next year."
