Finding God in the Everyday: A Week of Accompanied Prayer at Home

Do you long to deepen your personal relationship with God, but find it hard to make space for prayer in the midst of daily life? Would you welcome a little guidance, or wish you could step away for a retreat, yet know that taking time away isn't possible right now?
If so, the Online Retreat at Home - A Week of Accompanied Prayer may be just what your heart needs. This gentle, accessible retreat offers a unique opportunity to draw closer to God right where you are, within the rhythm of your ordinary days.
A Retreat in the midst of life
Organised by the Agency for Evangelisation in the Diocese of Westminster, the retreat runs from Sunday 23rd to Friday 28th November and invites participants to explore prayer in a deeply personal and supportive way.
Each person is paired with an experienced Spiritual Director or Prayer Companion who will accompany them throughout the week. You'll meet your guide once a day, at a time that suits your schedule - whether early morning, during a lunch break, or in the quiet of the evening. These one-to-one sessions, lasting around 30 minutes, provide gentle encouragement, listening, and guidance tailored to your own spiritual journey.
The retreat begins with a group gathering on Sunday 23rd November (6-7pm), including a guided time of prayer and the chance to meet your prayer guide. The week concludes with a closing session on Friday 28th November (6-7pm), as participants come together once more to reflect on what God has stirred in their hearts.
Praying Wherever You Are
Participants are encouraged to spend about half an hour each day in personal prayer or reflection. This time can unfold in many ways-through Scripture, art, music, nature, or simply quiet stillness. As the organisers remind us, prayer is "a lifting of our minds and hearts to God," and God meets us wherever we are: in our homes, our workplaces, our walks, and our conversations. Your daily meeting with your prayer guide becomes a sacred pause amid the busyness - a space to share what has been happening in prayer and to receive encouragement for the next step.
Many who have taken part in previous retreats speak of the lasting impact it has had on their spiritual lives:
"I was apprehensive about joining the week, but it turned out to be so helpful. I've never been listened to in this way before, and I felt so encouraged in my relationship with God."
"Life is very busy, so I wasn't sure about committing the time. It's the best thing I've done in a long time - listening to myself, to God, and slowing down. I intend to make some changes!"
A Gentle Invitation
Whether you are new to prayer or have been praying for years, this retreat offers a safe, nurturing space to encounter God afresh. It's a reminder that even in the midst of daily routines, God is near - inviting, listening, and gently leading us deeper into love.
