This weekend at Our Lady of the Rosary, Staines, parishioners were invited to bring their pets to Mass. This is an annual tradition close to the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, and occurring on the weekend of their patronal feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

This year, among the dogs, cats and various rodents coming up for a blessing, there was a beautiful horse.

Parish Priest Fr Philip Dyer Perry said: "We recognise that for many, pets are much-loved members of our households. Animals are part of God's creation, a creation that we are called to be stewards of, and so the way we care about our pets reveals something of our humanity.

"We pray that as we bless our pets this weekend, we will always treat God's creation with humanity and respect."
