The international development agency Christian Aid says Israeli military forces are destroying Palestinian human rights institutions as well as buildings.
The comments follow the destruction today by the Israeli military of the 12-storey Al-Roya Tower in Gaza where Christian Aid's partner, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), has its main office.
Christian Aid Programme Manager, Katie Roxburgh, said: "Our civil society partners are the foundations for helping Palestinian civilians with food, medical, legal support and the pursuit of justice for victims.
"This systematic dismantling of humanitarian and human rights defenders' capabilities is not just about blowing up a building, but the callous and deliberate destruction of Palestinian civil society and the obstruction of accountability efforts."
Christian Aid has been in touch with PCHR to offer its support and prayers. The attack comes on top of US sanctions issued last week against PCHR for engaging with the International Criminal Court (ICC) by gathering evidence of alleged war crimes by the Israeli military.
