Celebrating the life of John Bradburne

John Bradburne with patient at Mutemwa
This 14th of June, we remember and celebrate the birthday of John Bradburne who would have been 104 years old in 2025.
John's extraordinary life of faith, poetry, and service-most notably his care for the leprosy community in Mutemwa, Zimbabwe, continues to inspire people around the world. As we mark this special day, we invite you to reflect on his enduring legacy and join us in giving thanks for a life lived with deep love, humility, and purpose.
Heavenly Father,
On this day, we give thanks for the life of John Bradburne
your servant and pilgrim, born on 14 June 1921.
We remember with gratitude his unwavering faith,
his love for the poor and outcast,
and his deep devotion to your Son, Jesus Christ,
and to Our Blessed Mother, Mary.
Lord, you called John to serve those most in need,
especially the leprosy patients of Mutemwa.
He answered with joy, humility, and courage,
laying down his life in love and witness.
As we mark his birthday, we ask you, Father,
to continue to bless the work inspired by his legacy.
May his cause for beatification progress according to your will,
and may his example guide us to live more fully for You.
Grant us, through John's intercession,
the grace we now silently ask for… (pause for intention)
And may we, like him, walk faithfully in your light,
seeking always to serve and not to count the cost.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
John Bradburne, Servant of God, Pray for us.
