Scotland: Pupils invited to get creative for all of creation

Children and young people from across Scotland are being offered the chance to combine their passion for climate justice with their artistic abilities, thanks to an exciting new project with some of Scotland's leading charities.

SCIAF, in partnership with Christian Aid and Oxfam, has launched 'Get Creative for Climate Justice', an exciting new project which will culminate in an exhibition in the Scottish Parliament in September.

Elaine McGinlay, Development Education Officer at the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) said: "We know that young people are very passionate about climate justice and are amongst the most vocal when it comes to protecting our planet for future generations. This is the ideal opportunity for pupils to harness that passion in an artistic form.

"We are hoping that this project will help bring the voices of young people to Scotland's leaders and share their thoughts on the climate emergency."

'Get Creative for Climate Justice' can be run as part of the Laudato Si' Schools programme.

The programme was launched in 2020 as a response to Pope Francis' call to Ecological Action, by Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES), Justice and Peace Scotland and SCIAF.

Elaine added: "If your school is taking part in the Laudato Si' Schools programme this project is the ideal way to showcase your schools learning journey to the community, by holding your own Climate Justice art exhibition in school."

To register your school's interest in the 'Get Creative for Climate Justice' project get in touch with schools@sciaf.org.uk or egardner@christian-aid.org

When you register, you'll receive updates about the project, and artwork from your school will be eligible to be exhibited at the Climate Justice art exhibition at the Scottish Parliament.
