Focolare Centre hosts major art exhibition

A major art exhibition: 'Deepening the Mystery: 'unexpected treasures' of art' is opening at the Focolare Centre for Unity in Welwyn Garden City this Friday.

The Methodist Modern Art Collection, which will be on show from 1 March to 7 April 2024 includes paintings, limited edition prints and reliefs by key figures of 20th and 21st century British art, as well as works by international artists.

Entrance to the exhibition is free, as the organisers would like as many people as possible to enjoy this impressive art collection. However, donations can be made to cover costs.

Focolare Centre for Unity, 69 Parkway, Welwyn Garden City AL8 6JG

Opening times: Tuesdays - Fridays 11am - 4pm. Saturdays - Sundays 2pm - 5pm

The exhibition will be closed to the public every Monday and on the following days: Friday 1st March, Saturday 16th March, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

During the exhibition, there will be a community café serving refreshments and cakes at the following times: Tuesdays - Fridays 11am - 3.30pm and Saturdays - Sundays 2pm - 4.30pm

Thursday 21st March 7.30pm - Graham Kent* - lecture

Sunday 24th March 3-4pm - Hour of reflection

Wednesday 27th March 7.30pm - Music and poetry linked to the exhibits

Sunday 7th April 3pm - Closing Service of Thanksgiving

*Graham Kent has been associated with the collection for over 20 years and will base his talk on some of the exhibits.
