Catholic Union announces October events

The Catholic Union has announced two exciting events coming up in October.

On Wednesday 11 October, the Catholic Union's popular 'Pub Talk' series returns with Professor Stephen Bullivant as guest speaker. The event will be taking place at the Windsor Castle in Victoria. Doors will open at 6pm, with the talk due to begin at 6.30pm.

Professor Bullivant, an academic and author of several highly acclaimed books, will talk on the theme of 'Is Britain a Christian Country?' As Professor of Theology and the Sociology of Religion and Director of the Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society at St Mary's University, this should be a fascinating talk.

On Tuesday 17 October, the latest Catholic Union webinar will feature Raymond Friel OBE on his new book on Catholic Social Teaching. The event will start at 6.30pm online.

Raymond is Chief Executive of the Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) and before that had a highly successful career in education where he was a Headteacher for 14 years and an Ofsted inspector. He received his OBE in the New Year Honours List last year for services to education.

Both events are free to attend, but people need to register in advance. Further details and sign up can be found on the Catholic Union's events calendar.

From Catholic social attitudes to Catholic social teaching, there is a great deal of serious thought and writing taking place in the Church in this country.
