Bishop Robert Barron to speak at London conference

Bishop Robert Barron will be the keynote speaker at a day conference organised by Catholic Voices and the Word on Fire Institute on Saturday, 17 September 2022, at Friends House, London. Entitled Sharing the Church's Story, about 1,000 Catholic leaders, clergy and laity, will be gathering in person to explore the mission of the Church post-pandemic through a dynamic programme of speakers, panel discussions, and prayer.

Bishop Barron is founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries and Bishop of Winona-Rochester. Bishop Barron has been invited to speak about religion at the headquarters of Facebook, Google, and Amazon as well as giving an address at the Library of Congress in October 2019 to a Bipartisan group of Senators, Representatives and Capitol Hill staffers.

Other speakers will be:

Mgr Michael Nazir-Ali, a Pakistani-born British Roman Catholic priest and former Anglican bishop, who is currently director of the Oxford Centre for Training, Research, Advocacy and Dialogue.

Sarah De Nordwall, a poet and a Bard who entertains and inspires audiences across the world with her unique poetry and stories.

Mgr John Armitage, from the Diocese of Brentwood who served as Rector of the National Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham from 2014 to 2020. He is currently the Master of the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom and parish priest of St Margaret's, Canning Town.

Brenden Alejandro Thompson, CEO of Catholic Voices.

Dr Vaughan-Spruce is Executive Director of Divine Renovation UK.

Dr Susan Longhurst, Lecturer in Religion and Ethics at St Mary's University, Twickenham.

Fr Jan Nowotnik, a priest of the Archdiocese of Birmingham and Director of Mission and National Ecumenical Officer at Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales.

Dr Michael Ward, an English literary critic and theologian.

Justin Osuji aka Sonny J Mason a British Grammy nominated producer/singer/songwriter.

Dr Holly Ordway the Cardinal Francis George Fellow of Faith and Culture for the Word on Fire Institute.

Professor Francis Davis, Professor of Leadership and Head of the Catholic Digby Stuart College at University of Roehampton.

Andrew Petiprin, Fellow of Popular Culture at the Word on Fire Institute.

John Pontifex Head of Press & Information for Aid to the Church in Need.

and Ryan Christopher, director of ADF (Alliance Defending Freedom) UK in London.

MCs will be Georgia Clarke, a coordinator for Catholic Voices who leads Youth Ministry at St Elizabeth of Portugal in Richmond, and Fr Paschal Uche, a priest of the Diocese of Brentwood. As a young person Fr Paschal welcomed Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI to Britain on behalf of the young people of England and Wales at an event in the piazza of Westminster Cathedral.

Music will be provided by One Hope Project.

The day promises to be one of the largest Catholic gatherings in the UK since the pandemic began.
