Sean McDonagh: A faith-based challenge to COP26

Source: Scottish Laity Network
Since the time of Columba, Scotland has benefitted from the insights and wisdom of our Irish sisters and brothers and since embarking on our Journey of Discernment, May 2021, the Scottish Laity Network have been blessed by the 'promptings of the Spirit' of our Irish companions - Mary McAleese, Lorna Gold, Diarmuid O'Murchu, Brendan Butler and Jane Mellet. We are now delighted to add Father Seán McDonagh to that list.
Seán is a Columban priest who has a long history of being a eco-activist and in 1985 his book 'To Care for the Earth' called for a new theology that would give as much prominence to creation as to redemption. Since then he has written many books and articles that have all contributed to a deeper understanding of what is happening to our 'common home' and the need to take radical action.
He also contributed to the research which led to 'Laudato Si'.
We are delighted that he will be our companion on Thursday 23rd September and share his insights on 'A Faith Based Challenge to COP26'
This is a wonderful opportunity to come together, as women and men of faith, to discern the action needed at COP26.
Format of evening:
7pm Welcome and Opening Prayer
7 - 8.30pm Presentation by Seán followed by Q&A.
8.30 - 9pm Breakout Rooms based on Diocese or Parish.
