On the 11th September 2021 the John Bradburne Memorial Society will be walking up Cross Fell near Skirwith in Cumbria, to mark the 42nd Anniversary of the death of John Bradburne. John was murdered on the 5th September 1979. John walked up Cross Fell many times as a young boy and it is mentioned a lot in his poetry.

The walk will be led by the Bishop of Lancaster and the Bishop for Africa for the Bishops' Conference, Paul Swarbrick. Prayers will take place on the top of Cross Fell.

We will start the walk at 11am on 11th September 2021 from St Lawrence Church, Kirkland Road, Penrith, CA10 1RN.

The walk is approximately 13Km, which will take 5-6 hours, with a 700m ascent. Cross Fell proudly holds the title as England's highest point outside of the Lake District. Once on the top, on a clear day, the views of sea, valleys and fells are epic.

This is a fairly strenuous walk to the summit of Cross Fell and requires a fairly good fitness level. Please bring with you, good footwear, warm and waterproof clothing, a backpack containing food and water.

To book your place on the walk, please contact Kate on 07979 187498 or go to our website: www.johnbradburne.com

We look forward to seeing lots of you there to commemorate the 42nd Anniversary of John's death.
