Stories of cats at Southwark Cathedral

Southwark Cathedral is presenting a day dedicated to cats this Saturday. Hosted by cat lover Reverend David Guest who is the vicar at St Bartholomew's in Otford, and Hodge, the Anglican Cathedral's new resident cat, this day will include talks, music and poetry.
In September 2020, Doorkins Magnificat who had lived at Southwark Cathedral since 2008, died peacefully. Hodge, her successor has settled in very well since she was rescued from a street in Woolwich and officially adopted by the Cathedral on the Feast of St Nicholas, 6 December.
The Cat Day will include talks on: The impact of Covid on cat rescue and an introduction to Hodge - Catcuddles Sanctuary; The Folklore of Cats, with Singer and storyteller Cunning Folk; Literary Cats in History - with Dr Kathleen Walker-Meikle; Julia Bird on The Poetry of Cats; Anita Kelsey on Claws: Confessions of a Professional Cat Groomer and How to Read Your Cat with cat behaviour expert Celia Haddon.
Tickets are £18 for the day.
