'Nonviolence - Responding to the Cry of the Earth' is an online discussion on Monday 5 July 2021, 7- 8.30 pm (BST).

It is the second in a series offered by Pax Christi England & Wales exploring the role of nonviolence in understanding and responding to violence and injustice to people and our planet.

The Catholic Nonviolence Initiative (CNI), a project of Pax Christi International, is linked to reflection on the Laudato Si goals for the years ahead. It believes that nonviolence is essential to reaching the seven goals which include responses to the cry of the Earth, responses to the cry of the poor, ecological economics and the adoption of a simple lifestyle.

Speakers on the night are Christina Leaño and Aisling Griffin. Christina has an interest in the intersection of spirituality and social justice and began working with the Global Catholic Climate Movement in 2015 as their Associate Director. She has contributed to CNI videos and discussions. Aisling Griffin is the Peace Education Officer with Pax Christi England & Wales, having been a teacher with a strong commitment to social justice. Aisling will share on education resources she is producing that highlight the link between extractive industries and violence.

The session is open to all who are interested in hearing about and joining discussion on the part nonviolence can play in protecting the Earth and in learning about the new Pax Christi resource.
