Parish musician beats lockdown performing for CAFOD
When 'Lockdown Two' forced churches to shut their door for services for the second time, Clare Griffel decided to record herself playing and singing hymns and put them on YouTube for her community to enjoy.
Clare, a parishioner at St Mary on the Quay in Bristol, said: "Normally I would be playing the organ at the lovely church, but of course there is no music is our churches at the moment.
"I'm sure many people, like me, are missing this, so, I thought to fill my hymn-shaped hole, I would post hymns regularly on YouTube, along with the words for people to sing at home, if they like."
Clare, who volunteers with the charity CAFOD, hopes her songs will also help to raise funds for the global coronavirus response, "in solidarity with our neighbours across the world whom CAFOD is supporting to battle this crisis."
