World Week for Peace in Israel and Palestine
The World Week for Peace in Israel and Palestine (WWPPI) 16-23 September in underway. The week includes the International Day of Prayer for Peace on 21 September. Church organisations, congregations, and people of faith will be organising worship services, educational events, and acts of support in favour of peace and justice for Israelis and Palestinians.
This year's week has a special focus on children and youth. In Palestine, the rights of children and young people have been consistently violated due to the occupation, blockades and violence. The facts and figures show us that the situation is alarming. At the same time, children and young people have also shown great strength through undertaking nonviolent actions creating pressure for justice and peace.
Pax Christi International have produced some advocacy materials which they hope will be shared by peacemakers around the world to raise awareness about the situation of Palestinian children and youth and to ask the international community to take the necessary policy actions to improve their situation, for their future and as pre-conditions for a lasting Israeli-Palestinian peace.
