Smile Upon Us Lord at the Barbican

At times fantastical and dreamlike, at others expressive and skilfully comic, Smile upon Us, Lord illuminates the Jewish experience in the first half of the 20th century while speaking of love and compassion for all mankind.

Adapted from two novels by Lithuanian born writer Grigory Kanovich this show features an all-star Russian cast with a 40-plus ensemble. Vakhtangov's esteemed Artistic Director Rimas Tuminas returns to the Barbican following the success of Eugene Onegin in 2015.
