Holy Land: Just Walk group reach West Bank
A group of 260 internationals are on the last week of their Just Walk from London to Jerusalem. They are now walking in Palestine, having crossed the border from Jordan into the West Bank on Wednesday.
They write: "Our first full day's walking inside the Holy Land was to Jericho where we were met by local friends and dignitaries before appearing on national Palestinian TV who have really jumped on the story since the British Prime Minister gave a speech supporting the Balfour Declaration a few days ago.
"Yesterday we were joined by over 160 internationals as we trekked through the Judaean wilderness in solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
More than 100 British walkers have taken part in the Just Walk which is asking the British Government to push for full equal rights for everyone who calls the Holy Land home.
The Walk has crossed Britain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey and Jordan before arriving in the West Bank to walk with Palestinian and Israeli peace activists before reaching Jerusalem this Thursday. Nine walkers will have completed the entire pilgrimage.
