The Episcopal Ordination of Fr William Nolan as the new Bishop of Galloway will take place at the Grand Hall, Kilmarnock on Saturday 14 February 2015 at 11am.

Fr Nolan was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Galloway in November 2014 by Pope Francis and will be ordained at the ceremony in Kilmarnock on 14 February, by Archbishop Leo Cushley, Archbishop of St Andrews & Edinburgh.

Speaking ahead of his Episcopal Ordination Bishop-Elect Nolan said: “As I leave behind East Kilbride and the people to whom I have ministered the past 20 years, I think of a farewell card I received from local school children. In large letters, it read “Pastures New” not only do I move to new pastures I also encounter a new flock. I look forward to what for me are the new pastures of Galloway, and getting to know the flock, the people whom I will serve as bishop.”

“Unexpected though the call to be Bishop of Galloway was, I know that contentment and fulfilment are found in following the will of God, and I hope, that together with the people of the diocese we may we face the future together, trusting in God who is the one shepherd of us all.”

As well as Archbishop Cushley, the Papal Nuncio, HE Archbishop Antonio Mennini, will attend, representing Pope Francis, together with bishops from Scotland, England and Ireland.
